Sketch challenge from Chook scraps

So far I have only managed to complete the first of the three sketch challenges from Chookscraps this month, hopefully over the weekend I will get the other two completed...maybe not..

Chook scraps are also having a Cyber Crop this weekend so if you are looking for some inspiration why not join in the fun. The hints have been posted and the challenges will be up later this afternoon.

I am hoping to get some more scrapping done today as well, tonight I am doing an on-line class for the first time so hopefully tomorrow I will be able to show the results of tonights effort.

It could be a busy scrapping weekend for me...

Brandon made the cut...

Tonight after training Brandon recieved his letter from Norwood and much to his relief he has made the cut, he is in the squad of 40. The boys have a break from training now until 19th of January, in the meantime they have been given a daily program which they are expected to follow.

If you read my Christmas letter......

If you are checking out my blog as a result of reading my Christmas letter...thankyou

On the right hand side of the blog you will see a section on other sites I like to visit. It is here you will find links to view Hamish and Brandon in action and just to make it easy they both wear #11 for the Gullies, or instead you can just click on their names and this will take you straight to them.

An update on Craig's knee: His sugery went well yesterday and he even has a small trophy for his trouble. He is slowly moving around, but taking things slowly. As he can't drive for a week I scored the footy training run tonight, luckily for me it was indoors at Pembroke's school gym. Tonight the boys participated in the beep test, agility test and the vertical leap. This time next week we will know if Brandon has made the cut, fingers are crossed.

All three children are now on holidays and are looking forward to the time off school.

December Design Team work

These are the layouts and cards I have created from my Design Team Kit for December.

This photo was taken at the recent October Dance Competitions that the troupe performed in.

Meeting Mary from the design team for the first time, but it felt like we had known her for ages which of course we have through the Heven-Sent forum.

My Christmas cards...I can't make cards without including a photo, the first cards photo is a collage of some of my favourite layouts from recent months.

The tag behind the photo allows for some journalling.

Weekend Cyber Crop at Chook Scraps

I managed to finish off challenges 3 and 4 for the chook scraps cyber crop yesterday.

We had to scrap lift one of the Design teams work and I choose one of the layouts by the very talented Sue Maree

I have also been dabbling in a bit of digi scrapping recently, mainly because I have finally been able to work out how to use photoshop elements and I have to say this digi scrapping is a lot of fun.

This weekend I have been participating in the cyber crop at chook scraps so far I have managed to get two of the four challenges complete. Took me awhile to work out who from the chook scraps DT I was going to scrap lift, I have eventually decided on Sue Maree....far too many great layouts to pick from. I shall work on the card challenge this evening.

Heaven-Sent Cyber Crop 27th & 28th September

If the thought of watching the AFL grandfinal is too much for you why not pop on over to Heaven-Sent for a weekend of scrapping, there will be 4 great challenges and a game on Saturday night.

Our theme for this cyber crop in "the animal kingdom" - think of your pets, trips to the zoo, garden pets - like snails, spiders etc... (well in my case I would give these creepy crawlies a miss..), there are so many to choose from. The layouts just need to have an animal of some kind..

We would love to see you there, and whist you are visiting the site please check out our monthly competitions.

October 1st will see the new design team upload their latest work and we will see Moira's work for the first time.

I have also added links to the design team blogs at the bottom of this page, so why not check them out as well.

Happy Scrapping.

It's time for finals...

The minor round has now finished and it is time to turn the atttention to finals...
Hamish's team - Under 11 reds has finished minor premiers, not a bad result at all and all very exciting for the boys as this year is the first year they have played for premiership points.... Brandon's team - Under 16 reds has finsihed third. If they loose next Sunday then it is season over for them. If Hamish's team wins they are straight into the Grandfinal and if they loose they get another chance.....It is all very exciting.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

I created this layout for the competition I am hosting at Heaven-sent this month. the pink dress in the photo was smocked, sewn and embroidered by my Mum in 1960 as part of her assessment in dressmaking in her final year of school. The other dress I smocked and made in 1986, this was my first attempt at smocking and soon I was smosking lots of dresses for my daughter. Each dress took an average of 8 - 10 hours to smock. Taylor loved to wear these pretty dresses.

I know I have been a little quite lately....having my thumb joint replaced and having a plaster on really slowed me down, and just as the plaster was to come off I was admitted to hospital with a DVT in my left leg....But things are now well on the way to recovering.

So hopefully soon I will have some new scrapbooking layouts to share with you.

In the mean time why not check out what is happen at Heaven-sent this month. There are 3 great competitions this month and the new design team has been announced, I am really excited as I am still on the team and the team has now been expanded to 8.

Brandon in action

Brandon kicking a goal and winning a Ruck Tap.

Taylor

Last night Taylor performed with her dancing troupe unfortunately they did not place, but the girls did a fantastic job. They should be very proud of themselves. The grils performed a jazz routine to please don't stop the music.
Last weekend Taylor celebrated her 14th birthday...where has that time gone...
Tomorrow starts a busy for us as Brandon is playing for Norwood metro in the under 15 state championships. It looks like it is going to be a wet week as well, Thursday is the only day that it is not forecast to rain so it will be real footy weather.
I managed to get back into scrapping yesterday, I kept the layout simple and it is amazing how much you can actually do with a plaster on. I also made a few cards which is something I very rarely do. The cards and the layout can be found in the galleries at Heaven-Sent.

As it will be our first cybercrop, I will take it easy on you all.... I have some great challenges for you to join in as well as a non-scrappin' bit of fun for those who just want to drop by and see what is happening. All of the challenges should be able to be completed using what you have in your stash and a little imagination/creativity. The standard sized photos of your choice should be able to be used and all can be completed digitally too. One layout will require three photos minimum of no particular orientation and another will require two portrait and one landscape photo of the same theme. That is all the heads up that you will need for now, you just need to be ready on the 24th for some fun........

Look forward to seeing you at the Cyber crop.

It would be great if the under 11 reds and under 16 reds for the Gullies could win today. Hamish is playing his 50th club game for the Gullies today. I shallpost pictures of the banner later....several hours to make and it will take seconds to destroy.

A couple more layouts

I have very few photos of my late mother, so I thought it was about time I preserved what I have. I believe this photo was taken of mum in her late teens, she made the dress that she was wearing. Mum was a very skilled dress maker and indeed very good at all crafts. In a couple of weeks it will be 31 years since she passed away.
I have used Kaiser papers and embellishments apart from the rubons which are from TLC. Taylor used to dance with the Garrick-Stewart school of Highland dancing and this was her first kilt. The tartan came from Scotland and this was the smallest kilt that the dress maker had made the socks were also hand knitted. The braid around the jacket also came from Scotland, Taylor's grandmother got it for her when she was on holidays in Scotland.

I have used the "travelin" hot fudge kit from TLC, inked the edges of the patterened papers, sanded around the photos that are not matted and stamped the images of a footballer over the black cardstock. The journalling reads - I love the winning. I can take the losing. but most of all I love to play. Brandon loves his football.
Thanks for looking

partners in crime

This 12 x 12 LO is my entry in the April sketch challenge for Chook scraps. I have used the TLC hot fudge kit "friends 4 ever" as well as rubons from TLC and flowers from Kaiser craft.
Yes my three children are partners in crime but I also wanted to show off my daughters 2 dresses both of which I smocked and made. The indivdual photo of her was my first attempt at smocking.

Thanks for looking.
