December challenges at Chook scraps.

I have managed to get a couple more of the challenges completed at chookscraps. The first layout is for one of the sketches (sketch #1) that Susan created and the second layout is challenge #1, we were required to use the unofficial colours for Christmas - blue, white and silver.
Only 3 more challenges to complete, which I hope to do plus the CC challenges.....

December challenges at Chook scraps.

I have managed to have a bit of a productive weekend at the scrapping table. I have completed 3 of the December challenges at Chook scraps I thought it was a good effort seeing as it is only the begining of December.

Challenge #2

in honour of the Christmas star, lets make the gallery shine! Glimmermist, glitter, bling even dimensional magic.

Challenge #3

as a nod to wrapped presents, I'd like to see layering on a page - I'd like you to layer 3 different things - layering flowers and pp won't count this time. I'm thinking stamping, glimmermist, rubons, or a ghost shape, a leaf or a bling swirl.

Challenge #4

scrap a highlight of 2009. To be fair to Taylor and Hamish I will also be doing a highlight layout on them as well.

Celebrating my Nan's 90th birthday

On Sunday we celebrated my Nan's 90th birthday. She has done well to reach this great milestone. In the photo are Lyn and Robert (her son and daughter in law), Michelle, Sean and Josh (Robert and Lyn's younger daughter, her husband Sean and their son Josh, their 2nd child is due any day now) and the remaining member are Craig, Brandon, Taylor, Hamish and myself.

I think the last time that we had a family photo taken was way back in 1990....

A couple of layouts from the weekend

What else do you when is hot.....Scrap.....This weekend I have managed to complete a couple more challenges for the monthly challenges at chook scraps. The gallery is looking pretty good as well so if you would like to have a look at the gallery I can certainly recommend it.

Hopefully today will be last of our hot days for a few days......It is forecast to be 40......Brandon is currently down at AAMI stadium in the new Crows facility having fitness tests, agility, height, weight etc. The SANFL asks each club to pick players who could be considered for a state squad. The results of the test will show Brandon what areas he needs to improve to give the best chance of playing football at the elite level.
Keep cool and have a great day.

A little strange.......

Today all three children went off to school together as Hamish has his transition visit at Gleeson today. It has felt rather strange all week as I have not had to take or pick up Brandon and Taylor as Brandon is now on his P's. I have to say it has been great.

Today is also Brandon's last officail day of year 11, tomorrow he has a study day, exams next week and then two transition days for year 12 and then he is on holidays.

Keep cool.

Back to Back Premiers 2009

Congratulations to the Under 12 reds on winning back to back premierships yesterday. It was a great win for the boys.
The boys with Hawthorn football club player Ryan Schoenmakers who played his junior footy at the Gullies

It's been awhile....

It has been a long time since I posted here, unfortunately no scrapping to share as I have not had much time to scrap....a thing called football has taken up a lot of my time. The football season has come to an end for Brandon, the Norwood 18's did not make finals and the Gullies team went out in the first weekend of finals. However for Hamish we have one more game to get through and it is the big one again...the Grand final....Can the boys go back to back...we shall have to wait and see what happens on the day.

Hopefully once the season is all finished I shall be able to get some scrapping done and hopefully this weekends Cyber Crop at Chook Scraps will get me started.

A small update!!!!

This is my entry for challenge 4 of the July challenges at chook scraps. I took this photo of Taylor the day before her 15th birthday earlier this month.

This in my entry for round 10 of Chook Scraps Idol...The theme is big bands and we were required to do a double layout, use, use more than 8 photos, use 3 or more patterened papers and use metal..I have used staples..

I took these photos of Hamish on Sunday 5th July...he had a good game.... the same cant be said for Brandon as he reinjured his ankle playing for the Gullies...not happy.....

The boys in action yesterday...

Brandon and Hamiah in action for the Gullies yesterday. Both boys teams had wins which is good..

Saturday, June 20, 2009

I've been a bit slack lately and neglected my blog.

I have completed a few layouts lately.

This one is for the chook scraps idol...didn't manage to get it finished by the deadline so I did not get any points for this one.

I thought it was about time I completed a layout about Jars.

Yep another footy layout, this is for one of the cc challenges at chook scraps this weekend. The photos are not mine they were taken by one of the photographers from sports in focus.

Hopefully later on in the week I shall be back with a full update.

Mothers day 2009

I created this layout for the continous challenge at chook scraps. I started a tradition a number of years a go, which is to have my photo taken with the children on mother's day. I am now wondering how many much longer it will be before I am the shortest in the photo!

I have not had a lot of time for scrapping lately as the boys football has ruled our lives. Both boys Gullies teams have gotten off to a good start for the season and the Norwood under 16's are playing in the grandfinal on Sunday morning. Taylor has also been busy as she has started work at Baker's Delight and is really enjoying it.

ANZAC Day 2009

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Lest We Forget.

Chookscraps idol 2009

Choock scraps idol is now up to round 4 and the gallery is looking fantastic.

These are the four enteries I have completed so far, only 9 more rounds to go.

Round 4 - Solo's

For this round we were required to scrap a layout about ourselves. We had to include a picture of ourself, use lace, layers and a transparency.
Round 3 - Songs of praise
For this round we were required to scraplift another members layout. I choose to scraplift Kathy's "Life is great" layout.
Round 2 - Rock concert
For this round we were required to use a larger photo, lots of bold colour, distressing and a ticket.

Round 1 - Theme songs
We had to create a layout showcasing our everyday life and we were required to have numbers, a clock and a found item (something from our homes that is not to do with scrapbooking) onour layouts.

A few recent layouts

This first layout is based on a page maps sketch and it is for Ingeborg's comp at Heaven-Sent this month.
This layout is also for on eof the monthly comps at Heaven-Sent. Brigitte asked that we use a shap for the photo. I struggled with this concept and I predominately use squares and rectangles...so I got around it by placing the photo in a circle.

The photos used in these two layouts were taken last weekend at the first trial game for Norwood.
This next layout is a one of the monthly challenges from chook scraps and we were asked to use the quote "take my breath away" .....could not resist using the ice bath shots....

This layout is also for the chook scraps monthly challenge. We had to use a photo that we had lying around for awhile. As I tend to only print as I need I don't have that many photos lying around.

Another layout for the challenges at Chook scraps. A number of us recently particpated in a lace swap so we were asked to use lace on this layout.

I am surviving the "l's"....he is now asking to drive just about everywhere....so far we have not had any heart palpitations, cross words etc...seriously he has done very well.
Take care.
Karen

He's on his L's.....

Watch out world Brandon is now driving....He obtained his learners permit today and we have been out for a drive around the neighbour hood. Both the car and I came home in one without dents, dings or stress.....Seriously he did really well.

Watch out he turns 16 on the 1st of March

A few picture of Brandon.....I will post more tomorrow when he will be 16.

Chook Scrap's Cyber Crop Weekend

I had a productive evening last night scrapping all four of the challenges for the chook scraps cc.

Challenge 1:

I have to confess this was not a present from Craig....It was my prize from the competition at St. Agnes Baker's Delight.

Challenge 2:

Taylor took this photo of Hamish and I last weekend....

Challenge 3:

I know she is so pathetic, but we all love her. Cat napping is certainly one of her favourite habits.

Challenge 4:

I will have to upload this later as I can't get the scanner to work properly at the moment..grrr

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Hamish is 12 today....

Wishing you a very Happy 12th Birthday Hamish. I hope you have a great day.

A few recent layouts.

I would have to say that this layout featuring Milo would have to be my favourite. She has such a hard life...I don't think so...

If American idol is not your thing and Australian idol does not do it for you...I have the solution for you.....Chook Scraps idol 2009.

This months challenges have also been announced so why not check these out as well.

Monday, January 26, 2009

it's hot hot hot....

We are about to have a heat wave here, the temp got to about 43.2 today (currently it is 39) and it does not look like cooling down until maybe next Tuesday when it will be 33.

Hamish started the school year today and Brandon and Taylor will commence tomorrow. It will seem strange not having anyone at home, Brandon has been on holidays since the last week of November.

I have had a bit of a scrapping blitz yesterday and today.
